Felix: a Telegram bot and Mini App for event requests

How I built Felix for venue and equipment enquiries: guided questions, catalogue matching, indicative pricing and manager handoff across a Telegram bot and Mini App.

Felix helps prepare an event enquiry: collect the details, review venues or equipment packages and pass the request to a manager. It grew out of my Event AI Agent project. The current version combines a Telegram bot with a Mini App offering two modes, venues and technical equipment.

I worked on the concept, conversation and development. This case covers the questions, matching rules and limits of the automatic estimate. The image shows the real venue interface opened in a browser without a customer conversation. The product interface is in Russian.

Start with the event details

Venue matching needs a city, event type, guest count, date, seating format, preferred venue type and budget. A room may hold different numbers for a banquet and a standing reception. Equipment selection needs the requested services, audience size and event conditions.

In Telegram, a person can answer guided questions or describe the request in text. A model helps extract parameters and interpret clarifications. The next step depends on what has already been collected, so conversation state is stored separately from the wording of the replies.

The Mini App provides event, budget, checklist and enquiry screens alongside the chat. Messages work well for discussing a question; a separate screen makes parameters and options easier to review. Both interfaces support the same enquiry process.

Match against a catalogue

Python handles the final venue selection. It checks location, venue type and capacity for the chosen format, then ranks suitable options against the conditions and preferences. Unknown or insufficient capacity must not be presented as a match for the stated guest count.

The budget filter has a tolerance, and an unknown price needs confirmation. If fewer options match, the system returns what it found rather than filling the answer with invented venues. No suitable result means a person needs to continue the search.

Equipment uses a package catalogue and pricing rules. The estimate depends on the selected services and event parameters. If available packages cover only part of the request, the result is marked as partial and needs a manager. A price range is an initial estimate, not a final quote or confirmation of availability on the date.

Where AI is useful

The model helps interpret free text and clarification questions. The Mini App's final results come from selection and calculations in code. These can be checked separately: did the system understand the message, and does the selected option meet the stated conditions?

For example, “a team gathering for 80 people, with a room and sound” supplies only some of the inputs. This is an illustrative example. The date, format and budget still need clarification, and the equipment depends on the actual event.

My @ilinmaksbot builds an initial project estimate from buttons and prepared rules. Felix covers a broader flow with catalogues and more than one interface. I discuss that choice in “Parser, bot, service or agent”.

Save the enquiry and notify the manager

Supabase stores sessions and enquiries. When a Mini App enquiry is submitted, the server validates signed Telegram data and saves the contact with the event parameters. The interface can be viewed in a regular browser; submitting an enquiry requires opening it inside Telegram.

Saving the record and notifying the manager are separate steps. If the record is saved but the notification fails, the handler reports a delivery delay. The Telegram flow also has a retry mechanism. This makes it possible to check the stored enquiry and its delivery separately instead of treating a success screen as sufficient evidence.

Building a similar product

An anonymised example enquiry and the result a manager needs are useful starting points. They help define the questions, catalogue, estimate rules and handoff.

The Telegram bot development page covers the conversation flow; Mini App development covers screens and shared data. The product is available through Felix Event Bot, and the venue interface can be viewed in a browser.
